peace out. One time I was sitting backstage like this is like in 67 or something and I'm on a bench

with Janice on one side and pig pen on the other and they're both just drinking and out of it.

That's my mom. She's talking about Janice Joplin and Ron Pigpen McCurnan, a founding member

of the Grateful Dead. I just sat there for 10 or 15 minutes, and they looked at me and go, oh,

hi. I'm Rainbow Valentine, and this is a series about the pioneering women of the 1960s and 70s,

who left behind societal tradition,

expectation, and uniformity to create, produce, and participate in the psychedelic revolution.

The people that Stanford were giving away free trips of sandals, the real thing.

And so I said, sure, I want to have my third eye opened.

I'm going to go through the doors of perception.

We had all started taking acid by that time.

Obviously, my mom was a Mary prankster and a big proponent of psychedelics.

One night we had a full theater and somebody dosed the whole crowd, so there was like 900 people dosed.

And we had to lock the front door so they couldn't

leave and get busted. So my mom, her friends, my friends' moms, and their friends were some of the

first women in the history of humanity to have access to the pill. So we took me to a doctor right
