Chris, should we just explain what a typical day on newscast is?

So certainly for me, as the BBC's political editor, I wander into a studio and I loosen my tie and I sit back.

And you and I and plenty of others from around the BBC have a good old chat, don't we?

And I have this amazing job of just sitting in this quite comfortable chair listening to you all.

And the reason I love doing newscast is because, well, obviously, I like the news,

but I also like the news kind of in a bit of depth

so I can really understand why it is the way it is, rather than just like a load of headlines or a load of claims or a load of soundbites.

And basically at the end of the day, getting together with you or like the economics editor or one of our foreign correspondents who's like on the ground is a brilliant way of just kind of joining all

the dots together and also I don't we've talked about this a lot during our career haven't

we Chris that sometimes the news in the past has felt a little bit too kind of suit and tie-ish

buttoned up buttoned up like the coat hanging still in the back of your jacket seats and ties

and maybe not dinner jacket.

Not dinner jacket, but, you know, just to see it looked a certain way.

And then the other thing is there's only a limited amount of time on the telly and the radio.
