Summary

Maybe I’m Not The Problem is a new series of the I Have ADHD Podcast where I interview therapists, trauma-informed coaches, and psychologists about how our past informs our present and how maybe WE (ADHDers) are not the problem.

People with ADHD are ripe for the picking when it comes to abuse because we are programmed from birth to believe that there’s something wrong with us…that we are flawed…and we must fix ourselves to fit into society’s and our family’s box.

On Maybe I’m Not the Problem, my guests and I will discuss how our upbringing impacts us, how trauma impacts us, how covert abuse impacts us, how being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world impacts us, and that maybe…just maybe…WE ARE NOT ALWAYS THE PROBLEM.

therapy and self-development and recovery from abuse, I've noticed a trend. Most of us have

1:22.0

been programmed from birth to believe that we are the problem. And because we think everything is

1:27.3

our fault, ADHDers are extremely vulnerable to toxic relationships and post-series syndrome,

1:33.4

self-doubt, emotional abuse, people pleasing, over-explaining, and the debilitating fear of asking

1:40.7

for what we really need. I mean, tell me I'm wrong. Come on. I'll wait. No, I have ADHD podcast is

1:49.1

the place for people to learn about ADHD and figure out how to accept and move forward and thrive

with the diagnosis. And that's not going to change. However, in my opinion, there's an aspect of

2:00.7

healing that is being missed, which is discovering how your past is informing how you show up in the

2:06.9

present moment and unraveling that long-held belief that you are to blame for everything that's

2:13.3

gone wrong in your life. On maybe I'm not the problem, I'll interview therapists,

psychologists, and trauma-informed coaches about how our upbringing impacts us, how our trauma

impacts us, how covert abuse impacts us, how being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world impacts us,
