Hello, hello, and welcome to the first ever episode of Fostering Hope.

I'm your host, Jen Lilly.

Guys, I am so excited to embark on this journey with you.

I have had so many of you ask me why I'm starting this podcast, and it's really simple.

Fostercare and adoption is a huge passion of mine.

For those of you who don't know, my husband Jason and I are actually foster and adoptive

parents ourselves.

We got into foster care.

Gosh, for so many reasons.

But one of them was we are mentors through a program, an amazing charity called Child Help.

And we are special friends in that charity.

So special friends is very much like big brothers, big sisters.

It's a mentorship program.

And in a nutshell, we fell in love with one of our kiddos and she was facing reunification

with her mom, which in general, if you know anything about foster care, you know that

reunification is usually the goal, but you also know that it's not always a good idea.

And if you don't know anything about foster care, this podcast is for you because I want

to inform you and inspire you and equip you to get involved.

So the word reunification, let's just break it down.

That means to reunify with your biological family.

That is always always the primary goal of foster care is for foster parents to come alongside
