I'm a proud bardi jabba-Jabba woman.

And as an actor and director, I love fierce stories.

So the ABC team has asked me to pick some of my favorite ones for you

for a special series of fierce girls.

This Naidok week, we're celebrating First Nations women, their history, culture,

and achievements. And you're going to hear the stories of seven deadly Aboriginal and

Torres Red Islander women of the world.

Fierce girls who've shown the world they get up, stand up and show up.

This season, meet Daisy Bindi.

We don't have to work for free, she said.

It's not fair.

White people get paid.

Money, not rations.

We need to strike and stick up for ourselves. Daisy fought for

equal rights and paid for her people and won. You'll hear the story of Queenie Mackenzie who could do anything. She could ride horses, round

up cattle, and build schools for kids like you.

We can teach, said Queenie.

We are the best teachers in this land.

She gathered the women to help her teach, and the kids came in droves. Queenie taught languages.
