Hey listeners, so long before GBH decided,

for reasons I can still only partly understand to entrust me with the weighty task of telling the story of the big dig.

I worked on a few other G. B. hands down my favorite of those is a series from

our friends at Antiques Roadshow. It's called Detours.

Now I don't own a television and when I started working on that project I had never seen a

single episode of the public television treasure that is Antiques Roadshow. In fact I made it a point not to ever watch it

because my goal was to make something that would be equally compelling for

longtime fans and total newbies like myself.

So if you like me have never watched Antiques Roadshow.

The idea is that a bunch of very smart, very charming people tore around the country

check out people's old stuff and tell them what it's worth. But the thing is,

after doing that for 25 odd years, they've stumbled on some pretty incredible

objects with stories that cannot be told in a three minute appraisal.
