For the past few weeks, we've been taking a deep dive into one of the most disturbing

and debated disappearances in modern true crime, the disappearance of Mara Murray.

On February 9, 2004, 21-year-old nursing student, Mara Murray,

left her dorm at UMass Amherst. She packed her car, withdrew cash from an ATM, and emailed her

professor saying she had been gone for a week because of a so-called family emergency.

Now, I commented at the time, we've all had multiple dead grandmothers.

Oh, sorry my grandmother died, I got to be gone.

She didn't specify, but she said she had a so-called family emergency.

No one who knew claimed to have any idea where she was going.

She then drove north toward the White Mountains alone.

Just after 7 p.m., her Saturn slid off a rural road in Haverall, New Hampshire.

A local bus driver stopped to check on her.

He was just passing by and saw her car off to the side.

She insisted she was fine and swore she had already called AAA for help.

No such call was ever made. Now that didn't sit

right with the bus driver and within minutes police arrived. Why? Because he called them. The car was

locked. Mora was gone. No footprints in the snow. no sign of a struggle, no confirmed sightings.

Her scent was tracked about 100 yards down the pavement.

And then, at that 100-yard mark, it just vanished.

She was either beamed up or she got in a car or something,

but the trail stopped right there. For nearly 20 years, theories have swirled and we've been
