Good afternoon, everybody.

This morning Secretary DePolitan will announce new actions my administration will take to

mend our nation's immigration policy, to make it more fair, more efficient, and more

just, specifically for certain young people sometimes called dreamers.

That was eight years ago, June of 2012, President Obama in the Rose Garden announcing a program

that would affect hundreds of thousands of undocumented young people who came to the

U.S. as children.

Now these are young people who study in our schools.

They play in our neighborhoods, their friends with our kids.

They pledge allegiance to our flag.

There are Americans in their heart, in their minds, in every single way but one, on paper.

Now they could stay without fear of being deported.

These young people could apply for protection under a program known as DACA, deferred action

for childhood arrivals.

A temporary step in so Congress passed more permanent immigration reform.

Now let's be clear, this is not amnesty, this is not immunity.

This is not a path to citizenship.

It's not a permanent fix.

This is a temporary stop-get measure that lets us focus our resources wisely while giving

a degree of relief and hope to talented, driven, patriotic young people.

But three years ago, I'm here today to announce that the program known as DACA that was

effectuated under the Obama administration is being rescinded.
