Our guest today is E.P.N's Bob Lee.

He is a seminal figure in soccer broadcasting and non-soc soccer broadcasting at ESPN as the company's

longest serving commentator someone who joined the network on its third day of

operation in 1979 he's the host of Outside the Lines in D60

and he has hosted coverage of men's and women's world cups going back to

1982 in Spain. He's also been connected to the soccer to up with you here. It really is and I happen to have requested this interview with you unwittingly on my part

right is your beginning a six month sabbatical from ESPN.

What's the story? Just a matter of I'm in my 40th year. It's just the daily

accretion of deadlines and a lot of things going on just need to step back and just take a

deep breath and it's to do that is over the course of a vacation a week or two is

very difficult because you need to unplug and look at the whole

picture so I can make myself I think you know a better journalist for what I want to

work on and and catch my breath because you know I may have lost a step or two on the pitch over the

years I mean I know where the ball's going whether I can get there is another matter.

Well you're spending your first weekday of your six months sabbatical part of it with me so I appreciate that.
