Summary

"Bird" had its world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for Andrea Arnold's writing and direction and the performances from the cast in this fantastical coming-of-age story. Actors Nykiya Adams, Barry Keoghan, and Franz Rogowski were all kind enough to spend some time talking with us about their work on the film. Please be sure to check out the film, which is now playing in New York City and will expand next week to more theaters in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and Houston from MUBI. The film is up for your consideration in all eligible categories at the 97th Academy Awards. Thank you, and enjoy! Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on... The cold. His drug toll is going to pay for everything.

0:23.6

Well, Frans, thank you so much. It's wonderful to meet you.

0:26.6

Both the film and your performance in it are some of my favorite of the year.

0:35.6

I appreciate it.

0:36.6

Well, all kind words. I mean, is there anything you didn't like about the movie? Tell me, in all

0:42.4

honesty. No, I loved it. I loved it. I really did. But I do want to hear more about it. The character

0:48.4

of Bird is so unique, both in the way that he impacts Bailey, but also in the way that he moves.

And so as you were preparing for the film, was there anything that unlocked this character

1:02.3

for you in terms of his physicality?

1:05.6

1:33.3

create images that we are probably familiar with. Everyone that has seen Charlie Chaplin knows

1:41.5

these fast forward like stop motion camera images.

1:46.7

And unfortunately, these scenes didn't make it in the final edit.

1:52.3

So most of the physicality that we gave a bird and his, let's say, transitioning from human to bird are hidden to the public eye.
