All units, please respond. Welcome everyone to the next best picture podcast where we are talking with Joel Kinnaman, the star of the new film Silent Night.

Joel, thank you so much for joining us today.

Hey, pleasure to be on. So I wanted to first ask, you know, like this is film from one of our major action

directors, John Wu. How did you get involved with this film?

Well, it started with the conversation that I had with Basil O'wanik and

Erica Lee, who are the heads of Thunder Road pictures. We've done a couple of films before

and wanted to find something more, and Basil told me that, like, I got this John Wu movie,

and he wants you to do the lead in it, and the kicker is there's not one line of dialogue in the whole movie and I was like what say what

And yeah, I read the script and it was it read incredibly well it was super fast-paced, very emotional,

and it just had this kind of beat, this cadence to it that was unrelenting.

And actually when I saw the film the first time, I was struck by it still had that same cadence.

So John really picked up on it.

So you get this message from your, these people that

you like, John Wu wants you for the lead of this movie. What, what is your thought process like

when you hear that? What is happening to my life, you know? I definitely don't deserve it, but

I'll take it.

What were your expectations about working with him,

and how did that align with the reality once you got on set?

Well, I mean, he has the nickname the master of the camera, and I quickly understood, you know, what he was drawn to with this project.

You know, it's a, I mean, the film is like this hard-boiled, you know, high-octane, fast-paced action movie.
