0:29.9	favorite authors currently writing, YA. Mystery. And this is officially the second episode in my
0:36.2	ongoing series about YA. Mystery, a topic near and dear to many of your hearts and certainly to mine and certainly to Marines.
0:46.2	And while we're on the topic of hearts, it feels strange mere days after an extremely consequential election here in the United States, not to mention that
0:56.4	my heart feels very heavy. I know that Maureen does as well. She is very outspoken politically
1:02.9	on social media. So I'm not divulging anything. You couldn't easily find out yourself.
1:08.6	This is also not a political podcast. So I will leave it at that,
1:13.2	but I wanted to acknowledge that this is a hard time for some people out there. For others,
1:17.9	it's not. But if it is, I hope that this interview helps you a little bit. At the very least,
1:24.4	by way of diversion, but perhaps by way of engagement, which would be even better.

1:39.8	The author Maureen Johnson came onto this podcast nearly two years ago at the end of 2022 to discuss the truly devious series.
1:48.9	Her fabulous set of YA mysteries featuring her teen detective protagonist Stevie Bell.
1:55.2	There are currently five novels in that series, and Maureen is back this year with a standalone mystery titled Death at Morning
2:02.1	House. It came out toward the end of this summer, so it is currently available for purchase.
2:07.1	One of my favorite things about the truly devious series was the way you could tell it was
2:12.2	inspired by Maureen's love of classic mysteries, specifically Agatha Christie mysteries.
