Summary

I got the chance to talk to NHL Legend Marty McSorley. We went over everything, fighting, winning, what the Oilers need to do to win the cup, rule changes, what it was like protecting Wayne Gretzky for so long and so much more. Enjoy this as much as I did taping it, it's a great one.

Everybody, welcome to that episode, The Drop in the gloves. I, um, our guest is Marty McSorley. I, I was lucky enough to meet Marty. Gosh, probably 10 years ago now, Marty had a charity event in Halifax. And typically when you meet your idols, I know Ray Bork was my guy, Eric Lindros was my guy, and Marty McSurley, I grew up watching him. It goes well. And there's very rare that they exceed expectations. And you think of Marty McSorley, and people kind of get this for me too. It's like, oh, you're a dumb, big dumb goon. Doesn't know how to, you know, handle himself. He's probably going to chug 100 beers and just be an animal. The most eloquent, the most just thoughtful person in hockey I've ever met. I'm not saying this lightly because I've met a lot of people, Marty, I've been on a lot of teams and I'm not trying to blow smoke. That's not due. But I'd love talking to you. I feel like it's just always a treat for me. So, I want to say thank you for joining the show. And second of all, this is kind of a question away from hockey. How did you get the way you are? Like, I don't know anything about your history, your upbringing, but boy, you just have a good head on your shoulders, man. Well, you know, sorry, John, I'll shut that all. The biggest thing for me was growing up on a farm with nine brothers and sisters, you know, sorry, John, I'll shut down all. No worries. The biggest thing for me was growing up on a farm with nine brothers and sisters, you know, and 10 kids.
