Hi, we decided to make a whole new series on crazy subcultures around the world, and it's going to be totally amazing. Okay, great. We got it? Yeah, yeah. Thank you, Elena. Good job, babe. Are you sure this is a place? Yeah. It's got an Argentinian vibe. There are a lot of dogs here. Don't touch any of them. We're making a documentary about Supercarlitos. Do you know who he is? You've never seen it? We're wearing the bunny ears. No. It's in St. Christopal. Yes, but San Cristobal is a name very common. There's a San Cristobel everywhere in Latin America. Oh, Jesus Christ. Just make a good show, okay? This is already costing twice as much as that piece we did on the Bolivian Teen Exorcists. Welcome everyone to the Next Best Picture podcast where we are talking with the cast

of Magic Farm. We have Amalia Ulman, Chloe Sevenie, Joe Apollonio, and Alex Wolfe. Thank you all so much

1:09.9

for joining us today. I'm very excited to talk to you all.

1:13.3

I'm excited to talk to you. I wanted to start with Amalia because you are also the writer and

1:20.1

director of this film. And I wanted to ask how you went about assembling this incredible cast,

1:27.1

not just the rest of the people on this call, but also

1:30.4

the cast of Argentinians that they meet on their journey?

1:34.9

Well, Joe and I basically became friends working on this film together from the get-go,

1:43.3

and the role of Edna was written directly for Chloe.

1:47.0

So I think Joe and Chloe were part of the project from the very early stages of it.

1:52.7

And then Alex and Simon came on, probably like the latest.

2:02.3

But when I met Alex, it was like very funny how immediately I knew he would be the perfect

2:09.2

person to play that role.

2:11.3

I mean, he's funny and he responded.

2:14.3

Like we had the same references for the role, but like also I had recently cast Camino del Campo as Manchi.

2:22.7

And I think in my mind, I had planned that role for someone slightly older.

2:28.2

But because Camila Camp was very young and I thought like, I think it should be

2:32.4

someone of a similar age to play the Jeff's role.

2:36.4

I didn't want to add a necessary like age gap, like relationship matters to to that to that pair,

2:45.3

that pairing. So yeah, I don't know. I was really happy when like they came on board.

2:50.7

It's really exciting. And everyone has such fantastic chemistry with each other in the film.
