Summary

"Kill" had its world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, where it was the First Runner Up winner for the Midnight Madness section. Director/Writer Nikhil Nagesh Bhat's bloody, action, revenge film has been described as "The Raid" meets "Snowpiercer," and the companions could not be any more true. Bhat and his leading star, Lakshya, were kind enough to spend some time talking with me about their experience making the film, how it has found an audience in the United States, what went into the fight choreography, and more. Please be sure to check out the film, which is now playing in theaters from Roadside Attractions. What an experience that was.

0:58.0

Seriously.

0:59.0

Thank you both of you because I love action cinema that just takes no prisoners, holds

1:04.0

nothing back.

1:06.0

And I have a couple of questions I want to get into with the production process, especially,

1:10.0

because there's so

1:12.1

much happening in this film. In such tight, close quarters, first of all, I want to know,

1:19.4

Nikiel, for you, what made you want to set this story in such a confined space, knowing that

1:26.6

this was going to be a massive challenge for yourself.

1:29.3

Yes, yes. It was a massive challenge. It was really, really an enormous challenging

1:36.1

affair to shoot a film in that close compartment. You know, I've been saying this. So this comes

1:43.0

from a personal experience where I was part of this journey, and I was on a

1:48.4

train journey in which my Adjacent coach was robbed by some 25, 30 robbers in the night.

1:57.0

And while I was sleeping, I was not there.
