Good evening, everybody. Another episode of Mormonism live. Tonight, we're going to talk about an

interview that is alleged to have taken place in, I believe, 1839, with Joseph Smith Sr.

The father of the prophet. And the trouble is that it's not actually spoken out loud and recorded

until 1870. Tonight, we're going to go through that conversation

and try to parse out what parts are trustworthy as being original to the story that Joseph Smith

Jr. and his family told, and which parts maybe are misremembrances or misstatements for one

reason or another tonight on Mormonism

live. RFM, how are you doing this evening? I'm doing great. I'm doing great. Yes, misstatements can't happen

in the best of families. For instance, you said 1839 instead of 1829. The interview was in 1829?

Yeah.

Okay. So 40 years.

Over 40 years later this interview, this alleged, this purported interview shows up in print.

Is that correct?

Yeah, and we'll see the original documents of that. Also, I'm

hoping Dan Vogel is in our chat tonight because we're going to be real, I do see him there, 1830.

So we'll be relying heavily on him tonight as well. And so thank you for that, Dan. I'm going to
