He's been described as the longest long in the White House for the past three years.

He's been Obama's chief economist and he's been an important part of Obama's brain

trust since the 2008 campaign.

He helped design the stimulus, he helped design Obamacare.

He's also a really interesting guy.

He had a teenage career as a street drugler in Washington Square Park where I, in fact,

saw him perform and he was college roommates with Matt Damon who describes him as one of

the smartest people I've come across.

So in the later years of the administration, he started doing some really interesting

research into renet seeking.

That's a term economist used for ways in which people and businesses try to get more money

for themselves without really creating anything of value.

That extra slice of the pie is known as a rent.

What he's found is that zoning rules make it hard to build a big cities, occupational licensing

rules, keep people out of jobs, and they're generating huge rents for landlords and

in-license holders.

They're holding back the economy.

So he and Fox's Dylan Matthews talk about that, they talk about the Affordable Care

Act's Cadillac tax, and they talk about why more and more working age men aren't actually

working.
