1:18.0 | Yes, my name is Esther Kalman and I'm a perinatal psychotherapist in San Diego, California. |
1:26.0 | My private practice is completely online, so I work from home. |
1:30.0 | And the reason why I'm working in this field probably it's very similar to many |
1:36.4 | other clinicians who have also experienced some sort of perinatal mental health |
1:42.2 | challenges so my story is also very personal. |
1:46.4 | When my son was born 12 years ago, I've gone through, besides from being a brand |
1:52.4 | new immigrant to the US and just going through the |
1:56.4 | culture shock, being in a brand new relationship, marriage, just getting used to and |
2:02.4 | adjust it to this new world that is so different from where I was born and raised in Hungary. |
2:09.0 | So that and on top of that having a baby and being completely here by myself I didn't have any I still don't have any family here. |
2:20.0 | It was it was just like if someone would have thrown it into this deep cold water and it was really challenging and I guess part of the healing process is always, as we say, the meaning making, you know, finding your purpose in your sufferings. |
