Hello and welcome back to the Defunct Land podcast. My name is Kevin Perger. Today I am joined by the extremely talented puppeteer Noel McNeil. Noel, it is an honor to have you on today. Thank you. Thanks so much. So we just had the first episode of a new spin-off to Defunct Land called Defunct TV, and the focus was on bear in the big blue house.

I'm going to let you drive this conversation.

So to start off, can you just tell me a little bit about your involvement with that show?

Yeah.

Basically, I was the puppeteer and I have to say voice because the thing is, for some reason, people think if you just say puppeteer then they'll say oh did you do the voice too it's like yes I did that's what

being a puppeteer means you get to do the puppet at 99.9% of the time you do get to do the voice

so I was the voice and the puppeteer uh inside bear which was as I called it the big bird technology because I was the voice and the puppeteer inside Bear, which was, as I called it, the big bird technology, because I was inside.

And he's what's called a full body puppet or a walk-around puppet.

It's because you can actually walk around.

And in order to see, I couldn't.

So inside was a tiny little TV set, a monitor, and a microphone, so I could

speak as Bear's voice. And what you saw at home is what I saw. I couldn't see out. So I saw

bear the way you saw Bear on your television set. And because it's TV, it's flipped. So it's all backwards.
