Hi, guys. For the past few weeks, one of the most popular movies on Netflix has been

a documentary called Girl in the Picture. The film tells an unbelievable true crime story,

one which Love Murder previously covered on our episode Franklin Delano Floyd and the

tragic life of Sharon Marshall. Today, Andy and I are absolutely thrilled to welcome

to the show Matt Burkeback. Matt is the author of a beautiful child and the follow-up Finding

Sharon. The books Girl in the Picture are based upon as well as the executive producer of

the film. In this interview, we discussed how he first got interested in the case and

how he became much more than just a journalist covering a story. We're so appreciative

Hi, everyone. We are here with author and investigative journalist Matt Burkeback, who

also has added executive producer of a major hit Netflix documentary to his roster of things

that he does in his life. Matt wrote a beautiful child and Finding Sharon as well as some other

books, but those are two that we know we've talked to you guys about and he is the executive producer

and featured on the girl in the picture on Netflix and we are just so honored to have him

here with us today. Hi, Matt. Hi, how are you? Very good. Yeah, so we're going to jump right in

because we have a ton of questions for you. So I think that to get started, we'd love to have

an overview of how you got involved with Sharon's case and we're going to call her Sharon because I

know that that was the name that you used for so long and you can even touch on that and how

that kind of morphed into not just a beautiful child, but then the follow up Finding Sharon.
