I recall these at home. My neighbours are doing some

renovations, so you might hear some sanding or drilling, and also at the time of recording

the south of England is experiencing this storm that they've dubbed the beast from the east.

So you may also hear some bitter howling wind. But all that just adds

atmosphere as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, to the matter at hand, I'm joined today by author of

the forthcoming book, Rocket Jump Quake and the Golden Age of First Person Shooters is David L. Craddock.

Hey, thank you for having me.

And I can sympathize with your situation. The neighbor who lives below me loves to pull his car out of his garage, turn his music up to 11 and clean out his car. He's sitting in there listening to

music that is just deafening to me in my apartment and he's cleaning out his car. I don't know why

he likes to do this. But I can certainly sympathize with background noise

popping up at the worst times.

It's normally the people with the worst taste in music that play at the loudest in my experience.

I can't even understand the music, but the bass seems very powerful to me.

It's probably actually undermining the very integrity of his car.

It might just fall apart one day like a clown car.
