I welcome criminologist and author Christopher Berry-Dee to the show in this interview episode.

Christopher has written over 30 true crime books and frequently appears on TV documentaries as a leading authority on serial homicide.

His 2003 book 'Talking with Serial Killers' has been translated into 8 languages and has sold over 1.5 million copies.

Christopher was a researcher/interviewer for the acclaimed 12-part documentary series 'The Serial Killers', which aired in 1995, and has consulted on the cases of Fred & Rose West, Ian Brady & Myra Hindley and Dr Harold Shipman.

Over the years Christopher has spoken to multiple serial killers including "Genesee River Killer" Arthur Shawcross, Aileen Wuornos, "The Yorkshire Ripper" Peter Sutcliffe, Harvey "The Hammer" Carignan and "The Roadside Strangler" Michael Ross.

0:38.6	Thank you. Nice to meet. So let's have a quick discussion. You're quite famous for, well, like I
0:44.1	say, number one world's true crime author. And the one I'm reading at the minute, the one most people
0:49.3	will have heard of, is the first in the Talking with Serial Killers book, the series,
0:54.3	just called Talking with Serial Killers.
0:56.6	What is your actual background that allowed you to write that book?
1:02.2	Fluke.
1:05.2	No, really, what it was, I was in the Royal Marines.
1:08.4	I was a Greenberry Commando.
1:10.0	I did a lot of intelligence work,
1:11.6	sometimes interrogating terrorists overseas and in Northern Ireland. When I left the Corps,
1:18.2	I suddenly got, I got those true crime series books, murder, murder books, you know,
1:25.8	the weekly, weekly magazines, about 240 of them. I didn't
1:31.8	realise at the time it would take me two years to get them all and cost me a fortune. But then I started
1:38.0	reading these different case histories like Arthur Shawcross and Ronnie Defea, the Amityville
1:42.4	horror. And I thought to myself, oh, I write to them and see what happens.
1:47.3	And slowly but surely, these people started to write back to me and I gained their confidence.
1:53.3	And then what happened was I did the book, Dad Help Me Please, which was the Craig and Bentley case.
