Okay, got an interesting letter during the break, and so I'd like to discuss it with you because

this is an intelligent woman. My 21-year-old son started dating a young woman.

She casually told our daughter, and later my husband, that she is bisexual.

For background, my husband and I are comfortable with all adult sexual identities.

Our concern is practical, not religious or moral. I find that fascinating.

When I heard this, I spoke privately with my son. He told me that his girlfriend was sexually molested

by a woman when he was a child. That in her community's religion, the child is blamed for the abuse. Her family is Russian Orthodox,

although she no longer practices. Our son said this experience left her with a confused sense of

her sexuality, which he believes is behind the bisexual label. Our son then told his girlfriend

that we had questions about her bisexual identity,

and she came to speak to me last weekend. I was blunt, and I told her that I would struggle.

Now, this is the brilliant part, okay, that I would struggle to feel confident in a relationship

if my partner identified as bisexual, and that my concern was that,

if their relationship continues long term, this could become a serious issue between them,

not between her and me.

I'm going to interpret that.
