| 1:13.7 | Well, while more and more public services have gone digital, the level of cross-border |
| 1:18.2 | interoperability remains low. However, one good example of effective interoperability was the |
| 1:24.4 | creation of the EU digital COVID certificate, which allowed us to travel during the pandemic. |
| 1:30.3 | But more efforts were needed. So in November 2022, the European Commission proposed to adopt the new Interoperable Europe Act. |

| 1:40.3 | Essentially, it's about strengthening cross-border interoperability and cooperation in the public sector across the EU. |
| 1:47.6 | To achieve this, it introduces a framework for cooperation between EU public administrations |
| 1:53.1 | and an obligation to share digital solutions such as open source software, |
| 1:58.3 | guidelines and IT tools to cut red tape and save citizens, businesses, |
| 2:03.3 | and the public sector itself, money and time. |
