Mega Performers finally noticed the most populous country on earth.

I'm David Brancatia. First, today we have a preview of the government's report on hiring for April that is due on Friday, the number of people on

of people on private payrolls and the month just ended went up by another

192,000 that is lower than March but it's moderately higher than forecast.

This data from the payroll company ADP comes on this final day of the Federal Reserve

meeting on interest rates.

No one is expecting the Fed will lower rates later today, given that inflation continues to linger in the economy.

Clearly is still humming along, but does this fresh payroll data change anything?

Susan Schmidt is head of public equity at the State of Wisconsin Investment Board.

I don't think it's going to change minds among the members of the Fed.

However, I do think it's going to reinforce to investors that the Fed doesn't have a real reason

to lower interest rates anytime soon.

Investors are getting increasingly nervous about that and that interest rates are going

to stay higher for longer. So that's what's going to impact the market.
