But first, I want to talk to you about the legend of the golem.

If you haven't heard me talk about it, it goes like this.

In the 16th century in Prague, Rabbi Judah Lowe went down to the river and made a creature out of mud.

Through rituals and magic and incantations and writing the

word Emmet, meaning truth in Hebrew, on its forehead, the mud creature sprang to life. And the

golem existed to defend the ghetto of Prague against the violence of the Jews in that city.

The golem's name was Joseph or Yosala to its friends.

That's how much it was integrated into its community. I like this story because it shows that

when the world is beating you down and there's no one else to turn to and our institutions

fail us, you can always make or do something in your community,

and because Rabbi Judah Lo knew the magic and the words to do it,

he made something to defend his community.

Not the entire country of Poland, not Jews the world over,

but he did something in his city.

I've always viewed the podcasts and multitude as a company as something we can do to help our listeners out a little bit.

Sure, it isn't stemming the tide of the world.

Podcasts can't save the world, but I'm doing something to defend my community, my patch of the city. And I'm promising you that we will

continue to do that. We made a promise to you since spirits began in 2016 and joined the party

began soon after that, that we will put episodes out every single week. That is the relationship

the podcast creators have with their listeners.
