The story begins with me and my best friend,

when we were both 14.

We were exploring an abandoned water tower in the middle of an empty small airfield surrounded by woodland.

Thinking about it now, we were definitely trespassing as there were yellow warning signs on the fences.

However, we didn't seem to care at the time.

Living close to the tower meant we could escape pretty quickly if we faced any danger.

We observed the tower from afar a couple of times before making our way into the abandoned field.

There was debris from the building all over the ground.

We were hoping to find something interesting, so we started scanning through the broken tiles, bits of china plates and rubble.

Then we heard the laughter of a young child coming from the tower and the nearby woods.

When we slowly approached the tower, the laughter stopped.

And when we started heading away from it, it started again.
