Interest is interest. Take it. It's a video game. It's a YouTuber who makes unwatchable videos about video games. It's trauma. It's school. It's an argument about politics you don't agree with. It's a TikTok dance their friends are doing. It's a new boy band that sounds awful. But you know what it is? It's interest. Your kids are interested in something, and for that reason, they're interested

in talking to you about it, or watching something with you, or they're interested in going

somewhere with you, even if, at the end, they'll ask you to buy them something. So take it. This is what

you say you want, to connect with them, to do stuff with them, to talk to them, to spend quality

time or garbage time together. Don't turn it away because it doesn't match your taste or because

you're in a bad mood or because you're tired or because you can see where this is going.

Take the opportunity, encourage the interest, show them you're interested in what interests them. None of us can get
