January 23rd. Around half the US is about to face one of the most intense winter storms in years.

More than 230 million people are under alerts for potential ice, heavy snow and extreme cold.

There's an ice storm warning for parts of Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee.

This is when the ice can lead to long-term power outages and I would expect more warnings over the next day or two.
