Burton Gerber was a career officer of the Central Intelligence Agency.

He spent his years there in the clandestine service, the Director of Operations, to the

greatest extent on the Soviet Union and other satellite countries. He served as the Chief of Station

in several of those countries, including Moscow. And in his latter last tours in the agency he was a policy advisor to the Director of Intelligence on human requirements, that is human intelligence requirements.

Since then he's been quite active as a lecturer. He has written

extensively and lectured on ethics. He is currently a lecturer at the Georgetown University. His course is very popular on

intelligence issues and we are delighted to have him here with us today.
