Welcome back to another edition of Through the Smoke, a Miami Hurricanes Football and Recruiting

podcast here on the 24-7 Sports Network. I am Gabby Rudia, writing solo today for this

instant reaction podcast for Miami's first spring practice session. It was an exciting day in

Coral Gables, a beautiful day outside for some Miami Hurricanes football

back in action for the first time after a national runner-up finish in this 2025 season,

a lot to figure out about this upcoming 2026 team.

And we got our first look at them here on Tuesday morning at the Carroll Sofer Indoor

Practice Facility. Let's start with the top, right? You know, there's a lot that Miami needs to

figure out, a lot that Miami needs to replace with guys like Cecei Mewanoa, Ruben Bain,

Akeem Mesidor away from the program, a lot more guys guys and this was really our first look at this

2026 team in its entirety there's been a lot of offseason buzz that we've passed along you know

in our spring preview if you haven't already listened to that would encourage everyone to listen to

that before listening to this because I feel like it sets the table for the conversation that we're

about to happen I think it reinforces a lot of the conversation and a lot of the things that we saw here

in Miami's first spring practice and for the spring to come.

First and foremost, this is going to be a really exciting season for the Miami Hurricanes.

Just because this team, you know, top to bottom, I think one of my first initial impressions just scanning the

field is that this team is just littered with the proper body types, right? We know football

is a height, weight, and speed sport. And this team across the board is just built the right

way. You can tell that it is a product of Mario Cristobal, Dennis Smith and the staff just stacking talent year after year after year, whether that be

high school recruiting or in the transfer portal.
