All right, welcome back to another instant recap edition of Through the Smoke podcast, a Miami Hurricanes podcast here on the 24-7 Sports Network.

Miami winners on Friday night, the Hurricanes find a way to take down number 20 ranked Virginia, 17 to 9.

Quite a game, if you, I'm assuming if you listen to this podcast you watched it david just

kind of your initial reaction nekosi perry accounts for about 200 yards of offense two two

touchdowns has the go-head touchdown late uh but his performance still not good enough to get that

that qb1 role from mani d Yeah, so the two the two quick takeaways from

this game. I think Nicosi Perry managed the game well. He did pretty much everything that

Dan Inos would have asked Jaron Williams to do in terms of making good decisions, throwing with pretty good accuracy.

And look, I think Nicosi deserves some praise too

for escaping some potential sacks with his elusiveness

and also his feel in the pocket.

We've mentioned this before,

but he definitely has a better feel than he did last year.

And then the other quick takeaway, I think, from this game is just the fact that the defense

did look better. It looked closer to the defense that we saw last year from Miami. It still isn't that level necessarily, but it was pretty close.

And, you know, against Virginia Tech, we criticized the defense for playing poorly in situational type things like the red zone.

And against Virginia, Miami's red zone defense forced three

field goals which was huge it's a win if an opposing offense gets into the red zone and you only

allow a field goal so I think the defense overall had had a lot more energy, was playing faster than we saw

last week against Virginia Tech. And so, yeah, I mean, look, it's a good win. Hopefully this can

generate some momentum for Miami moving forward and they can kind of get on a roll, so to speak.

I think it's definitely a big win.
