The Mike Martin Jr. era at Florida State is officially over. This is Sunday,

Gold, Arium, Asuti, and Brett Nevit. And Florida State has decided to go in a

new direction with its baseball coach. And, man, I think Brett, you and I are both, I think a

little stunned that it happened. Certainly, you and I both believe that based on

performance alone, that it was warranted. It was definitely up for discussion. And I think in

the end, athletic director, Michael Alford decided that because of the standards that this

program has built upon itself over the years with great historic tradition that Mike

Martin Jr. and his staff were not meeting that. And especially, you go to a couple

regionals back to back years and you don't make it out of even to the championship round

of that regional has to sting a bit. But your initial thoughts on Mike Martin Jr. being fired?

Yeah, I mean, it was quite a whirlwind. It went and went down. I mean, I think for both of

us, it went down a little quicker than we even thought it was going to, you know, really

started to hear some real things Thursday night and, you know, Friday morning. But I mean,

it just the second it happened, it was almost like it was kind of assigned to me that this is,

you know, Alford is pretty serious about baseball right now and where he wants to go with this

program. And he didn't feel like the program was in a place to take steps forward. You know,

I just think there was a very negative feel around the program and things just it wasn't a great

environment at the time when it didn't feel like an environment that was promising something

that was going to just improve and I know where. So yeah, and you know, I think there are some other

factors to it, you know, some, you know, there are already some FSU players that entered the portal.

kids that are key players and kids that, you know, are crucial to the program and, you know,
