We just came from about a 45-minute interview with Marcus Freeman on the record,

and then lunch with him off the record.

We won't be talking about the latter, but on the record.

Well, lunch was good.

Don't know, though.

Jimmy John's lunch was good.

But the one thing we did not expect to be reporting today was that Tyler Butner is going to be a walk-on wide receiver at Notre Dame.

And that's what we were told.

Yeah.

And Marcus Freeman and Katie Launergan sharing that news right at the outset of today's meeting

with media inside Notre Dame Stadium.

And Marcus really painting the picture of how much Tyler Buckner had humbled himself came and asked for a role.

Made it clear that Tyler Buckner was very willing to be as much as just a student assistant coach,

whatever he could do to help the team.

I don't think any of us who knows the family

is very surprised by this. We know that Notre Dame has long held a special place in the hearts of

Tyler Buckner's entire family, his grandfather on down. And so this makes sense. Once he returned

for lacrosse, just finished winning a national championship with the lacrosse team. Tyler

Buckner had that one little detour to Alabama, but he is a

Notre Dame guy. I mean, on one hand, of course, news like that is surprising, Tim. But like you said,

John, I mean, that's Tyler Buckner. Yeah, he came back to the university. He loved it. He'll still play
