Summary

Jim Geraghty is back! Join Jim and Greg for the Monday 3 Martini Lunch as they break down the jaw-dropping success of the U.S. military in rescuing two Americans shot down over Iran, the far-left bias pushed in an AP government textbook, and the eyebrow-raising parenting confessions from Jennifer Siebel Newsom, wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Plus, they welcome the return of Savannah Guthrie to NBC’s Today show.

First, they marvel at the U.S. military’s unwavering commitment to leaving no man behind and highlight the remarkable coordination between armed forces and the intelligence community to extract the American flight crew before Iranian forces could capture them.

Next, they react to an X post from New York Post and Fox News columnist Karol Markowitz, who spotlights a controversial political spectrum chart from an AP high school government textbook. The graphic places major political figures on axes of authoritarianism vs. libertarianism and economic left vs. right. The results are insane. Is your child being taught this too?

Then, they dive into comments from California "First Partner" Jennifer Siebel Newsom, who revealed that she had her sons play with dolls and she makes sure the hero is a female in every story she reads to her kids. Jim and Greg reveal what they think of this parenting advice and what impact this could have on Gavin Newsom's presidential ambitions.

Finally, they're glad to see Savannah Guthrie return to the Today show after more than two month of a nightmare that's still unresolved.

week and to the commenters who asked which war zone Jim went to this time, I'm happy to say

0:27.2

he didn't unless he considers whatever beach he went to for actual vacation to be a war zone,

0:33.3

which I doubt. South Carolina, you know, right around Hilton Head, spending time with my family.

0:40.0

We actually all get along really well.

0:41.3

So that wasn't a war zone in its own way either.

0:43.5

So no, it was great to get away.

0:45.9

And I know people are used to it being, you know, Zimbabwe or some really far off corner.

0:52.2

Someone did invite me to Sudan recently. And there was a part of me that was tempted, but it was not with my usual guys. And one of those things were like, you know, I, there is like this little thing called, you know, like home life that I have to be here for every now and then. So I would like to return home successfully. Yeah. That's kind of an important part of it. But yes, I think the the only thing close to warfare there is the Republican gubernatorial primary in South Carolina.

1:14.9

That's going to get pretty frosty as time goes on.

1:18.1

But Jim, whenever we're talking about the U.S. military, the list of superlative adjectives that you can use to describe how amazing they are is almost inexhaustible. But the story

1:29.7

we got this time is not about how precise our airstrikes were or how much we've devastated Iran.

1:36.2

It's about the amazing rescue operation for these two crew members from an F-15E strike eagle,

1:43.7

which got shot down on Friday.

1:46.5

There's some concern about how it got shot down because it did not show up on radar,

1:50.3

and so we need to be aware of that technology.
