Welcome back, everybody to Inside the tape here on Inside the Birds.

I'm Jeff Mosher alongside Adam Kaplan, and we've got Greg Kossoe with us to finish off our Eagles breakdown of their 2420 win over the Cowboys in the season opener.

In the first episode, we did the Eagles defense.

And in this one, we are going to do the Eagles offense.

And, you know, Greg, we've all joked, we talked a little bit.

It felt like a very Eagles-like game from an offensive standpoint. You saw a lot of Saquan Barclay. You saw Jalen Hurts with the ball deep. You saw Jalen Hertz run when he could run. Uh, and then of course, sometimes you saw, uh, the past offense, especially in the second half, just not have the juice that it had earlier. So you saw everything there. You know, it's funny. I, you know, I know a lot of people probably felt that, oh,

you know, something's wrong, what's going on. But, you know, people have to remember what the

Eagles team is. They're actually a very smart offensive team. And I think Jalen Hertz plays really

smart, intelligent football. But there were eight games last year out of 18 starts. I'm not counting the game

in which he left the Washington game early when he got hurt. There were eight games in which

he threw for less than 200 yards. They're not really a true passing team the way much of the

NFL is. They're a very smart offensive team. That showed up in this game. You know, Jalen Hertz, he only had one

pass in this game that went more than 11 yards from the line of scrimmage. And that was the

ball to Dotson, which was a great throw. But, you know, it was a chain moving kind of game.

It was, you know, there were no big plays really other than the Dotson play.

The only thing missing that happened seemingly every single week last year, which made their

scores seem bigger because they did get bigger, was Barclay would have big runs in the second

half. That didn't happen in this game. In fact, I think his last seven runs only gained a yard or two.

You know, and people say, well, they put eight in the box come on are people really going to say something

as stupid as that he always they always have eight in the but i mean every team tries to shut down

barclay that's not a big surprise right you know but the point is that's what happened last year

is they'd get a big barclay run or two late in games.
