If we're going to be honest, people are expecting the Jets to be a bad team in 2025,

but it does not need to be that way.

In fact, this team can exceed expectations, potentially by quite a bit.

It all begins with a potentially dominant run game.

This is a daily podcast covering the New York Jets with new episodes each day through the week, Monday, through Friday. Today we're going to look forward to the 2025 New York Jets. The roster is now largely set. We could see a move here or there between now and the start of the season. But after the NFL draft, you kind of know what you're going into the season with. And expectations are pretty low for this team. Our partners over at Fandul only have the Jets with over under a five and a half wins. So the odds makers are expecting the Jets to be about as bad as they were in 2024. But I don't think it needs to be that way. In fact, I think this Jets team could exceed expectations potentially by quite a quite a bit. And today we're going to talk about the pathway for that.

Part of the formula will be the Jets dominating the third phase of the game.

Part of the formula will be a defensive bounce back after a disappointing 2024.

But let's begin by talking about the offense.

And this is an offense that I think has some challenges, I think particularly in the passing game. So this

is going to be an offense that's going to have to be built a very specific way. And this is an

offense that's going to have to maximize its opportunities. If you are a team that's star-studded,

if you have, you're the chiefs with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, or the, you know, the Bengals with

Joe Burrow and those receivers, T. Higgins and Jamar Chase, you can miss on

opportunities. You know, you don't have, you don't necessarily need to hit on all of your

big play opportunities. For an offense with a passing game, that's probably going to be a bit

challenged like the Jets with Justin Fields at quarterback and a receiving group that includes

Garrett Wilson, which is a good place to

start. You know, I mean, through the history of this podcast, we've been doing this since 2016.

Prior to Garrett Wilson arriving, we did not have a number one receiver. Now we do. So we at least

have a good starting point, which has not been true of the Jets through much of their recent history.
