My name is Neil Reynolds.

I try and let that music go longer and longer each week.

Definitely it is growing on me. And somebody who's already grown on me, of course, my usual

partner in crime, Jeff Reimbold. Jeff, how are you? I'm very good, Neil. How are you doing?

I'm very good. We're going to talk state of the franchise today in the Inside the Huddled podcast. We're on to our last division,

the NFC West. Many call it the toughest division in football. And we're going to talk about

why that's the case. We've got an interview coming up with Dr. John York, the owner of the San

Francisco 49ers. I spoke to last week who had some very interesting things to say about the

growth of the game internationally here in the UK. And we're going to get to

your questions in the mailbag as well. Some good questions, Jeff, I want to get to. But first,

some news and some bad news for the 49ers if we're going to start on the NFC West. Alden Smith

arrested at LAX Airport in Los Angeles. I'll just give a few details in case people haven't heard

the story. I'm sure they have. Alden was reportedly drunk and made a false claim about being in possession

of a bomb. He was asked to go through secondary security screening and became belligerent and

uncooperative apparently. And a 49er statement said the club was disappointed. We should remember Smith previously being arrested for possession of an assault weapon for a DUI.

He was in rehab last year and only played in 11 games.

So this is a situation that's worrying for the 49ers, Jeff.

Yeah, you know what?

And when these kinds of things happen, Neil, I always go back to the individual person, right?

Because in the long haul, it's about human beings.
