That's Cynthia Deedle, the former chief of the FBI Civil Rights Unit. She served 22 years

as a special agent, focused on civil rights and hate crimes. Now the director of civil rights

reform at the Matthew Shepherd Foundation, Deedle continues to dedicate her life to combating

hate. The recent rise in hate crimes has shaken communities across the country. Deedle

explains why it's necessary to have and enforce legislation that protects people from being

targeted for who they are. We talk about the necessity of holding law enforcement officials

accountable, why it should be mandatory for law enforcement agencies to report their hate
