Welcome back to Inside the Episode 1865. It is so good to be back with you. This is Rob McCollum,

0:14.0

one of the producers of 1865. Joining me is always Stephen Walters and Eric Archilla, our creative

0:21.2

team. Guys, it's been so long. Welcome back. Hey, did anything weird happen while we were gone?

0:25.8

I think there was some new stuff I was checking in on a lot of other podcasts. I don't know. I missed a lot

0:32.7

of it. I blocked out. I have no idea what happened. It was good to see your face today. Yes,

0:38.4

yes. The first time in a very long time that we have all seen each other in person, even though we

0:42.8

are recording still remotely and separate in separate booths right now. We had hoped to bring you

0:49.4

at least a portion of this season earlier in last year and then with COVID that became untenable

0:56.3

1:02.0

and made this show quite the phenomenon. Eric, what are we up to now? We're up to 3.5 million

1:07.8

downloads and counting. That's pretty remarkable for a show that only has 16 episodes. So it's

1:13.3

pretty awesome. That's great. I just want to say that we make this show for the listeners. When

1:19.5

we first made it, we didn't even know if we would have any listeners. So it's really, really

1:22.9

cool to know that we do. So thank you to everybody who listened to the show and we hope you enjoy

1:27.3

season two. The story of you this season is great. That's actually a good segue for us, Steve,

1:31.6

because with season one, we had no idea that this was going to get any kind of public reaction.

1:37.2

We had no idea if we were going to make a season two. So we made some choices in terms of how to

1:43.2

structure and bottle that story so that it very much was the Stanton arc all the way through the

1:47.2

impeachment. Now when you guys were faced with the topic of how to move this story forward and

1:53.2

where it was going to go from there, how did you approach where you wanted to start and move into

1:59.1

season two? Well, yeah, I mean, you touched on it, Rob, but you know, an Eric and I's early

2:03.6

conversations about what we wanted to do. It was obvious that we wanted to tell the larger
