This week talking about Episode 7. So joining me is Eric Archilla and Stephen Walters,

Howdy Writers of the Project. Welcome, welcome. Let's get right into it. So we ended this

0:25.9

episode on the huge cliffhanger of Eckert discovering the denial of security, the request from the

0:31.8

president. We start right in on that here and meet for the first time Abraham Lincoln. In all of his

0:39.0

quirky and playful glory coming in and and and basically telling Stanton he's going to ignore his

0:44.3

request. And one of the things that we really try to do across the board but specifically with Lincoln

0:49.1

was to put as many of his own words into his mouth as we possibly could. Nobody wrote Lincoln,

0:54.6

better than Lincoln than Lincoln. No wait, what is it? How do you say that? Nobody wrote Lincoln,

train get on the train to back to their home and leave. Yeah, so Lincoln goes to Stanton and he

1:27.9

specifically requests major record and it's true. He requested him because major record could

1:32.3

bend an iron poker over his arm. And in the real history of it as far as we know, there was no

1:37.4

written request for security. It was a verbal request and and then Stanton calls major record

1:42.8

in after he tells Lincoln no and he dismisses him. He sends him home and that's what really happened

1:48.1

that night. And it's far as we know. It's important for the audience to remember that there was no

1:52.2

secret service at this time because no one had ever thought that anyone would make an attempt

1:57.0

on a president's life. Well, Stanton had thought of it. I mean, it's also important to remember that

2:01.8

in the days leading up to Lincoln's assassination, somebody shot the top hat right off of Lincoln's
