I'm Brian Hyatt. This is Rolling Stone Music Now. It's Grammy Week, so I thought we'd bring you a special newsy episode.

We have a preview of this year's Grammy ceremony with executive producer Raj Kapoor.

Raj is also the Executive Producer and showrunner for the Oscars this year and he's had a long career in television.

In this conversation we go through some of the performances and he dropped some hints at least about what to expect.

One note before we start I bring up the possibility in the conversation of Tracy Chapman performing

Fast Car with Luke Combs at the ceremony and after we talk the world learned that this is in fact happening.

But again here's my conversation with Grammy executive producer Raj Kapoor.

The Grammys will be airing on Sunday on CBS at 8 p.m. Eastern.

This must be a friend take time for you.

It is. We are about to start rehearsals tomorrow. I was

wondering if there was any sort of particular mission statement for

this year's Grammys. There really isn't a special kind of theme, but what actually happened this year was just a kind of a

byproduct of the nominations.

So so many amazing women that were nominated this year.

And so when you look at those categories, it's just a testament to the artistic achievement and excellence in music that was so female driven this year. And I think that's the story we we almost considered doing an all-female

Grammy show this year because there was so many female nominees.

That's going to be an amazing night that's for sure just based on who has all the big nominations.

So he really considered having only women perform?

We did.

And yeah, we definitely looked at it from Taylor,

Olivia, Billy, Siza, Doua, Victoria Monet, Boy Genius, Lana Del Rey,

and in a country, you have Laini Wilson, you have Kelsey.
