So what happened behind the scenes that led to Jimmy Kimmel's suspension?

Well, the decision wasn't quite as rash as you might think.

Ever since Kimmel's comments during his Monday night monologue about Charlie Kirk's suspected killer

and calling Trump supporters to quote

Maga Gang, the decision to take his show off the air had been brewing for days.

It wasn't until Wednesday after FCC chair Brendan Carr went on a conservative podcast

and threatened to pull ABC affiliate broadcast licenses that the matter really escalated.

Then Next Star, the group which airs Jimmy Kimmel live in about two dozen markets said they wouldn't air the show. A person

familiar with the situation says Kimmel was prepared to give a quote, very hot monologue Wednesday night,

taking aim at the Maga Base. Disney execs spoke with Kimmel about toning it down, and according to the source, that's when

execs ultimately decided to suspend the show indefinitely to protect him and the Disney brand

from fueling the controversy.
