developing apps, working in Christian startups,

and spreading their faith on Instagram and YouTube. There is a whole community and culture just outside of the mainstream

using tech in all sorts of wild and interesting ways. With us today to explore the weird

world of evangelical tech is Karina Loughlin. She is a professor of media studies at Loyola Marymount University

and the author of the excellent book, Redeem All, How Digital Life is Changing Evangelical

So I'd love to get basic stuff out of the way first. So can you define, for those who may not know,

there's a bunch of different sects and types of Christians. What do we mean when we say evangelical?

Well, evangelicals are conservative, Protestant Christians.

It often been defined by sort of their emphasis on their literal belief in the Bible as the word of God, centrality of

Jesus, being born again, and a sort of emphasis on activism and sort of getting their faith

out there and trying to proselytize and things like that. There's a lot of different denominations that, you know, sort of getting their faith out there and trying to proselytize and things like that.
