This week, we made it official. I'm going to Cuba. When Michelle and I go to Havana next month,

it will be the first visit of a U.S. president to Cuba in nearly 90 years.

When President Obama made that announcement last month, he set the stage for a new era in

Cuban-American relations and for a new tourist destination for Americans.

You see, I believe that the best way to advance American interests and values

and the best way to help the Cuban people improve their lives

is through engagement by normalizing relations between our governments

and increasing contacts between our peoples.

In political circles, there's still all kinds of questions, like what exactly does it mean

to normalize relations?

Will we lift the trade embargo?

But what a lot of people really want to know is,

when can I go to Cuba? And the answer is now. Book a room on Airbnb, hop a flight to Havana,

then wander the Prado on a Saturday afternoon, admire the old colonial buildings and those

retro cars. Steve Paulson did that not long ago,

and here he is on the patio of the historic Hotel Nacional with his Cuban guide Rosa Ricardo.

Now my sense is that working in the tourism industry, especially working as a tour guide,

is a very good job in Cuba. Is that right? It's a very good job, actually.
