I'm your host Carly Wiesel, and I am so happy to be here. If you're new to me yelling at you through a screen,

welcome! Long story short, I am a reporter who exclusively and extensively covers theme parks.

If you're listening, you're probably already a fan of them too,

but if you wound up on this roller coaster ride through one woman's wacky world

and have no idea what to expect, there's plenty for you too, I promise. This podcast, for the most part, is going to cover

Universal and Disney Parks. Will we dabble in a Legoland? Maybe. Will I give you a play-by-play of the blissful day I spent completely alone?

I hope so, but for the most part, we're going to stick to Wizarding Worlds, Fantasylands, and everything in between.

Basically, if you don't already find theme parks

absolutely fascinating and worthy of all your time, money, and vacation days, you will

by the end of this season. What I've always found so fascinating about parks,

Disney's in particular,

is that they are so much more than a carousel

and a coaster and a handful of familiar characters.

They're a nexus for all culture where society and

history and family intersect. Disney really is America's church to put it

broadly and the interviews and surprises in store this season really sum that up.

What I'm most excited to do with Very Amusing is bring you the stories I've always wanted to tell

in the format I want to tell them in. I've been covering theme parks

for magazines and websites for years now and one of the biggest struggles with what I

do is that I'm so deeply invested in all things Disney and Universal, but I'm not always able to tell those stories for that audience.
