Summary
Welcome to a Grave Talks Classic Episode—a chilling journey into one of Australia’s darkest and most haunted places: Aradale Asylum.
From the mid-1800s through the 1900s, “lunatic asylums” were common across the world. But few carry the same weight of tragedy, despair, and paranormal activity as Aradale. Built as a sprawling facility designed to lock away anyone deemed “undesirable” by society, its cold brick walls became a prison for thousands of souls.
At Aradale, mental illness was only one reason people were admitted. Speaking a different language, behaving “improperly,” or simply being unwanted was often enough to be sentenced to a life behind its doors. For many, that sentence was permanent. Death came long before freedom.
Today, Aradale is no longer a working asylum—but its halls are far from empty. Visitors and paranormal investigators alike have reported phantom voices, shadowy figures, footsteps in deserted wards, and an overwhelming presence of sorrow that lingers in every corridor. The spirits of the forgotten, silenced, and mistreated are said to still roam the asylum, making it one of the most infamous haunted sites in Australia.
In this episode of The Grave Talks, we sit down with paranormal investigator William Tabone to uncover the true history and the terrifying hauntings of Aradale Asylum. Step inside if you dare—the ghosts are still waiting. This is Part Two of our conversation.
