Summary

This is the inaugural episode in a four-part series exploring the Tarot Swords in depth. Join me as we journey through the Swords, from the Ace to the King, and derive important lessons from this suit.

This first episode covers:

  • an overview of the Swords as a suit
  • how the journey through the Swords is a cautionary tale about the undisciplined ego mind
  • how this suit warns us about the dangers of privileging head over heart
  • the suit's double-edged nature, which is reflective of the mind as a double-edged "tool"
  • how we sometimes develop a coping mechanism of retreating into the head to avoid our feelings or suppress heart trauma

I also dive into the Ace of Swords, 2 of Swords, and 3 of Swords to provide detailed interpretations of each card.

This is the inaugural episode in a inaugural episode in a four-part series taking you deep into the world of the tarot swords.

This is, of course, one of the four suits in the minor arcana in the tarot deck.

1:03.4

And to set the stage, I'll be working with the imagery and symbolism of the classic riderweight smith deck

1:10.6

and offering my own interpretations,

1:13.4

which will be based inevitably on everything I've read and learned about the tarot over the

1:18.7

years, and also my own personal spin and take on the suit of swords.

1:24.6

The purpose of this series is to understand the profound and often challenging

lessons of this suit, lessons about the dangers of overthinking and lack of mental discipline

1:37.5

and privileging the head and the ego mind over the heart and intuitive and body-based wisdom. The suit of swords also brings us

1:47.8

important lessons about anxiety and stress and worrying about the future or getting caught up in the

past. And also what happens when we get trapped in the mind or when we experience a pattern of retreating into the mind

2:02.6

as a survival or coping mechanism or perhaps to avoid our feelings. All of this we will explore

2:10.2

as we move through the suit card by card. Since this is our introductory episode, I want to

2:17.2

offer some initial thoughts on the suit of swords,

2:20.9

generally speaking, and then we'll also move into exploring the first three cards in the suit,

the ace of swords, the two of swords, and the three of swords.

But let's start with swords from a broader perspective, so the suit as a
