Hello, dear listeners and spiritual workers.

Welcome to a new episode of Inner Work.

This episode was born directly out of some of the messages and guidance I've been receiving lately, which

actually have a lot to do with questions I've been hearing from clients and students, and

also a few interesting synchronicities with stories that people have shared with me about

some of their past experiences with spiritual teachers and healers, which, as I'm sure you

already know, are not always positive. So first, let's define gatekeeping, which is really the

main topic for this episode. Let's define gatekeeping in its simplest form. So gatekeeping is the

activity of controlling and usually limiting general access to something, whether that something is

knowledge or information or education or just access to certain rights and privileges.

So generally speaking, gatekeeping is associated with a very old paradigm of spirituality and

magic, right? So if we're bringing this concept to the realm of spirituality, there's this very old

paradigm going back to the ancient traditions and mystery schools where you had to go through

many different steps and move up a hierarchy and kind of prove yourself to some external

higher authority in the form of a teacher or a priest or a priestess,
