Summary

A core premise of alchemically prepared medicines is not just rejuvenation of the physical body, but also a purification and revitalization of the human psyche and spirit. Through this deeper level of healing spagyric medicines provide, they are said to contain an "initiatic virtue," meaning that they are initiating us into a "higher" level of consciousness, self-awareness, and integration with the patterns of nature and the cosmos.Β

ABOUT SAJAH

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

Sajah Popham, founder of Organic Unity and The School of Evolutionary Herbalism, is committed to creating a new paradigm of plant medicine anchored in herbal, medical, and spiritual traditions from around the world. His work integrates the science and spirit of herbal medicine, creating a system that is equally holistic, healing and transformational. His unique synthesis bridges herbalism not only east and west, but north & south, above & below, into a universal philosophy that encompasses indigenous wisdom, Ayurveda, western Alchemy and Spagyrics, Astrology, clinical herbalism, and modern pharmacology.Β

Sajah's vitalist approach utilizes plants not only for physical healing and rejuvenation, but for the evolution of consciousness. He never allopathicallyl focuses on just what a plant is "good for" but rather who the plants are as sentient beings. Sajah's teachings embody a heartfelt respect, honor and reverence for the vast intelligence of plants in a way that empowers us to look deeper into the nature of our medicines and ourselves. He lives in southern Oregon with his wife where he teaches at his school, makes spagyric medicines, and practices his healing art. The Plant Path, Your Window into the World of Urban Medicine, with Saja Popham, founder of the School of Evolutionary Herbalism and Organic Union.

0:25.6

So my name is Seja Popham and I live here in Oregon down in the Applegate Valley with my partner there and

0:34.6

just kind of introduced myself a little bit. I initially studied

0:40.9

herbal sciences at Bastille University and I have studied with Matthew for the last number

0:46.6

of years and kind of through my studies experience a very interesting split within myself

0:53.8

that I think a lot of modern human

0:55.6

beings experience and that's the split between science and spirit. And during my studies at Bastille,

1:02.2

it's a very pharmacologically oriented study of plant medicine. And during that time, I was also

1:09.2

connecting with the plants and much more of a,

1:11.6

I guess, from more of an indigenous perspective, more of a spiritual understanding of verbalism.

1:16.6

And those two polarities, the chemistry and the spirit was a really difficult thing for me to figure out how to bridge.

1:24.6

And kind of the changing point, the turning point for me was when I was

1:30.6

traveling through Italy doing a study abroad program there and had an

1:37.2

incredible class with a man there who was an N.D. an MD and acupuncturist and

1:41.9

an astrologer. This is like the universal healer.

1:46.4

And he was also an alchemist.

1:48.9

And so he proceeded to give a five-hour lecture on alchemy and spigyrics.

1:55.2

And that was the turning point for me, because what he did in that talk was he relayed an energetic pattern that

2:04.5

adequately and equally reflected the physiological truths of plant medicine as well as the spiritual

2:10.6

truths of plant medicine. And so for me that that was the big integration point. And so from

2:16.4

there, since then, I have been studying

2:19.6

the alchemical tradition in a lot of depth,
